Top 3 tips to keep your home safe during the holidays
It’s worth taking the time before you go away to check your home will be safe and secure while you’re away to hopefully avoid any hassles and give you peace of mind.
- Tell a neighbour
Tell a trusted neighbour of your plans and make sure they have your contact details if they need to get in touch. Ask them to check the post box and to remove any flyers and post as an overflowing post box is a number one sign that your home is empty.
- Lock it down
Make sure all windows and doors are locked. Check back gates are closed and secure. Remove any items (eg. Garden ladders) that might assist someone to break into your home.
- Be mindful of broadcasting your holiday
Think twice about posting on social media about your upcoming trip. We may think that our privacy settings are on high, but often content can be searched by the public and you don’t want to broadcast to strangers that your home will be empty while you’re away.
